Problems with hapac2 5ghz wifi is flapping

Hello, I bought a hapac2 and a capac.
I provisioned the wifi with capsman. The capsman running on hapac2.
I had no problems for 2 weeks, but for a few days I noticed that my wifi was unstable.
Yesterday I saw with a wifi scanner that the 5ghz wifi always goes on and off from the hapac2.
After switching off the 5ghz wifi, I have no problems.

I installed 6.46.6 on the hapac2 and capac.
Are there any problems with the 5ghz wifi on the hapac2 or do I possibly have a defective device?

best regards,

Sven

Sounds like a DFS (radar detection) in action. Check your logs to check if that is the case.

Is it possible in RouterOS to exclude such DFS channels?

Frequency 5180, 5200, 5220 and 5240 ( channel 36,40, 44 and 48).

Used to be done with the “channels” list. I still use this to avoid channel 120-124-128.(10 minute DFS wait)

Now a general disable is added in RouterOS. (First via CLI, later GUI). This limits the number of channels considerably.

See release notes for version number.

LT 6.45.9 : *) wireless - added “skip-dfs-channels” parameter;
Stable: 6.46.5: *) wireless - added “skip-dfs-channels” parameter;
Test 6.47rc2: *) winbox - added “skip-dfs-channels” parameter to wireless interface menu;
Test 6.47: *) wireless - added “skip-dfs-channels” parameter;

Sorry for delay, i have today enable the 5ghz wifi on hapac2. The hapac2 use channel 40 and capac use channel 56 both with 80mhz.

The 5Ghz Wifi from the hapac2 is currently stable.
I will watch it and wait when it becomes unstable again.
In the log I have no more messages from that day.

The hAP ac2 is not using DFS channels. I hope it is smart enough to us eCee on channel 40 as the non-DFS channels are 36-40-44-48 (36 is lowest channel possible)
The cAP ac is using DFS channels if it is smart enough to use eCee on channel 56 as the 4 possible channels are 52-56-60-64 (next channel is 100, so 64 is highest here)

If anything else is used (40/Ceee, 56/eeCe, 56/eeeC) then both 80 MHz channels will overlap.
XXXX is not defined, so I don’t know what it will choose.

When you say flapping, does that mean totally random?
Works fine for days and then will cut out for 10 min or 30 min… rinse cycle repeat??
