Hello all!
I’ve recently encountered funny problems with logging in at some devices using WInbox 3.11 and ROS 6.40.1.
For example - QRT5 wouldn’t let me log in by MAC if the password was blank (I’m not talking default config), but would if I set my NIC to the same subnet as its IP address.
Then, I’ve been setting up a link with two SXT5s and upon changing some minor settings through QuickSet I couldn’t log back in.
Like, I chose PTP Bridge AP preset and just set its IP address and wham, no chance of logging in again until defaulting the device…
Then I tried setting it manually, ignoring quickset. The only way that worked for me was:
- setting the IP on wlan
- setting the same IP on eth
- creating the bridge and setting the same IP again
- disabling both DHCP client and server
- adding wlan and eth to the bridge
Only then I was able to access the device after setting it.
Is this some kind of quirk of the newest RouterOS (twas 6.40.1 during setting) or maybe a ROS quirk related to SXT5?
Don’t know, I expected QuickSet to be a useful tool to setup a link quickly and easily, but apparently I was wrong, since it behaves erroneously and doesn’t translate settings properly.
For example, I set a static IP for an AP-bridge and IP address lands on eth interface instead of bridge?!
Then again, I’m fairly new to Mikrotik world and I guess I’m wrong in my expectations. That’s where you fine people could help me, thanks in advance! ![]()
