Hi everyone! I need some help to clone a mac-address in an Access Point (mode Ap-bridge), which is part of a Point to Point bridge.
My ISP gave me an static IP, which connects only with a mac-address set in the cable-modem…the problem is that the mac is not the AP mac-address, but the mac of a notebook I used to do some test of the line. Now I need soon to clone that mac-address in the AP, in ways of have the service running as soon as possible, but I don´t know how to do this in the Mikrotik software!!!
Thanks and hope for an answer.
(sorry for my English)
You need to clone the MAC on the ethernet interface or the wlan?
Well, I believe it´s on the ethernet interface. However, has it a different way depending on the interface¿?
Are you routing with the wireless or bridging. If you are bridging you need to change the MAC of the device attached to the remote end of the bridge.
Ok, sorry for my English, it´s more than bad…Ok, so if I have an AP with an ethernet port, were the internet line is connected, and I also have an Atheros PCI card, with the wlan port configured to bridge the internet line, I understand I have to change the MAC of the Atheros card…Is it right? Well, in this instance, can you tell me how to do it¿?
I apreciate your help! Best wishes.
If you are bridging you need to change the MAC address of the wireless device i.e. laptop connecting to the wireless bridge. Bridges are transparent.
I have to thank you for the objetive and useful help you gave me…I´m quite new in all this stuff and I wouldn´t have my bridge running if it wasn´t for your attention…
Best regards.
Mario.
