Problems with Winbox + Hotspot + WinXP SP2

I’ve already posted once about this problem, but have now verified that this problem exists and am curious if others have seen it.

Problem: When using Winbox to add Hotspot Users from a computer running Windows XP with Service Pack 2, current active hotspot users (all of them) get disconnected from the Mikrotik. All of the dynamic simple queue rules and firewall mangle rules still exist. This obviously generates errors when people log back in as the mangle rules all still exist.

Versions we have verified this problem are 2.8.20 - 2.8.24. I’m not sure if 2.8.13 has this (we never had this problem with 2.8.13) but I can’t recall when SP2 was installed on the offending machine.

Is anyone having this problem? Are there any workarounds other than using the CLI? I’ve sent a supout to MT but they don’t see any problems. This problem is completely reproducable for us.

No one else is noticing this problem??

It also happens on Windows 2003 server. I’ve sent another supout file…I hope this can get fixed soon

I look forward to hearing if you find a solution as I have been playing with a test MT box with PPPOE and I have the same problem with XP SP2.

I got a response from support today. According to them it will be fixed in the next version. Apparently, it’s a problem when adding comments to the user - I can’t verify if it’s the user add or adding the comment to the new user that breaks it…A temporary fix is to add and comment new users from the console. No word on when the next version is coming out.
