Proper way to backup and restore?

I meant to learn this before I finished building my new version of dude, but I got excited and built the whole thing. Fast forward 3 weeks and I thought I better learn this. I messed up one of my maps and wanted to restore it. I had previously followed the directions at:

https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:The_Dude_v6/DB_import_export

to make a backup of my database, I’m using 6.40.3. So I tried to restore it and nothing happened. The map did not revert. I ended up rebuilding it manually, but whats the proper way to backup everything including the map? I exported the db, I backed up the routerboard, and copied all files from the files list to a computer, but should a failure happen how do I get back to square one? I’m more interested in getting my map back than any historical data.

jmay,

Described a Dude v6 - Backup local solution.
It was verified that it may be used to copy all Dude maps to another instance.

Thank you!

Maybe our tutorial are different , but my approach is for mobile phone users to restore and backup data ,
