Hi,
i want to upgrade my home network installation and would like to now which components would be the best as well as to understand the difference between SwitchOS and RouterOS.
My network topology is as follows.
Broadband Router is provided by the ISP and is an AVM Fritz!Box (FB).
a) To the FB I want to connect a switch (A) using the normal network as well as the guest network.
b) I have 24 ports from patch fields in my house at the location of that switch (A). One of these connections will be needed for an analog telephone connection (FAX).
c) I have some Raspi and home automation units also to be connected to the switch (2 Ports required).
d) I have an office room where I have at least three units that have to be connected to that one patch field / connection from (b) thus I need an additional switch (B)
e) I have an second network distribution on first floor for the second floor. Here I have six additional connections. Thus I need an additional switch (C). I also want to connect my NAS with two GBit ports to the network and have the uplink either by 2x 1 Gbit or 1x 10 Gbit (twisted pair / copper).
f) To the switches (A) and (C) i would like to attach WLAN routers (A: 1x; B: 2x).
g) All switches and WLAN routers should provide the normal and guest network from the FB. Additionally the switches should provide an additional network for home automation.
h) All units must be fanless.
i) optional if the WLAN Routers can be power via POE would be nice but is not essential.
j) Is a WLAN MESH supported?
