the machine is Dell PowerEdge T420, with SFP + intel X520-DA2 board
proxmox identified the intel X520 card when I give the command #sudo ethtool enp20f0 | grep speed
show 10000Mb / s
but at CHR in ethernet auto negotiation is incomplete, rate unknown
I already took the auto negotiation, but it is the same
I’m licensed free for now, will it be because of the license being free?
on proxmox, I left netowork device virtio on the VM that is CHR,
when I leave E1000, it’s 1Gbps in CHR, but it’s not 10G
OK,
so I just buy the P10 license, and will it negotiate 10G on ethernet?
never used mikrotik chr, just CCR boxes and some wireless router board
I was delighted to buy the license and the problem is not that, so I asked here.
CHR’s virtio/vmxnet3 based interfaces seem to always show “Auto Negotiation: Incomplete | Rate: Unknown”.
License doesn’t matter. You can try it yourself with a P10 demo license and it will still show Incomplete/Unknown.
Regardless of the negotiation status, it does actually work at 10Gbit.
Do you use Mikrotik CHR and do not reach your maximum speed?
The solution is to acquire a P Unlimited license whatever the speed of your provider.
For days and weeks I did not find an explanation why my CHR 6.48.2 did not reach the maximum speed of my P1 license (1Gb) and stayed at herratic speeds between 80Mb-220Mb, until I put a demo of a P4 (10Gb) and voila the speed doubled but it still did not reach the 1 Gb contracted, I put a demo license P unlimited and EUREKA! now it reaches 1 Gb and with super low processor usage
I realized when it was something of the internal software when on a clean copy I added 2 ethernet in a bridge and with it passed through the Bridge the problem occurred and when putting the direct VM it did not occur, and then I decided to change the license because there was no no parameter of anything that could interfere with the simple functionality of a Switch
