proxy and no hits

i enable my proxy but i get no hits

can any one tell me why
im running os RB433AH V3.24
AND NO HITS

did your user configure the proxy server address in their browser?

i want it to be in tranceparent mode

then you also have to configure NAT. did you do that? if no, see this:
http://www.mikrotik.com/testdocs/ros/3.0/pnp/proxy.php (CTRL+F “transparent”)

oh i forgot to add one dst Rule thanks!

next question!

will a RB433AH handle 50 users

if http usage is about 4 gig in 30 days

or will it be best to set bu a x86 box

with 1 terabyte hdd and 3 gigs ram?

50 users is not much, it will handle easily. if you get several hundreds, then maybe think about that box

http://www.mikrotik.com/testdocs/ros/3.0/pnp/proxy.php

still nothing must i add to cash or accsses list if its in this mode i see data going throught proxy but never any hits

post here the result of “/ip proxy print”

[brendan@Server Tower] > ip proxy print
enabled: yes
src-address: 0.0.0.0
port: 8000
parent-proxy: 0.0.0.0
parent-proxy-port: 0

max-server-connections: 600
max-fresh-time: 3d

always-from-cache: no
cache-hit-dscp: 4

hm… should work, if you redirect successfully

/ip proxy monitor once
/ip proxy inserts print

it seems to be right new i think

as i started getting hits
i think it was my redirect

one other thing

what is the cache and direct option for

can i state somthing like www.fnb.co.za will never get cached
or can you give me example of what the two potions are used for?

http://www.mikrotik.com/testdocs/ros/2.9/ip/proxy_content.php

Cache access list (specifies which objects to cache, and which not)
Direct Access List (specifies, which resources should be accessed directly, and which - through another proxy server)

its so weard when i enable proxy it gets hits and all but seems slowwer at end user then what it is when it is disable any ideas what that can be i have a bridge type setup!

check cpu and memory usage when users are browsing.

cpu usage 60-70%
memory high to

must i do the proxy on a x86 box
will that be better!

or ia a 433ah fine for 50 users

I depends a lot on how much http traffic you’re attempting to put through it.
As an example I have a box at home (ALIX 2 board) which runs at 500mhz and handles about 8Mbps of proxy traffic maximum.

Try a single thread (eg: go to http://www.speedtest.net) and see what sort of speed you can get proxied vs unproxied.

you may find you need a more powerful device to handle the office proxying if you have say a 20Mbps internet connections.

i only have a 2mb internet line

Not too sure what you mean here. If the memory counter at the top (next to CPU and uptime) is high then this is GOOD because it’s available memory, not used memory.

However, I see that you’re not using the hard drive for caching, rather you’ve specified (inadvertently) the proxy to use memory instead. If this is the case and your memory usage is HIGH whilst under heavy load the cheapest option would be to buy a Kingston 4Gb microSD card and use that for the cache. I have a 433AH with about 90 users and my hit rate is about 12% with only HTTP caching.

It would but I don’t think it’s necessary.

Yes. Tell though, why would you not want to cache the banking sites considering they are used rather frequently?

can you maybe send me a list of accsess that you have in your proxy so i can see how it works

how can i set it up like this

2X modems--------433ah(in bridge mode)(rstp)---------------server(radios server)

just to test the 433ah with nothing else exept the proxy running on it
