i just bought a routerboard rb411ar with cervic antenna and serious it was written on it that the router can cover a range of 10km but what am getting on my laptop even at a distance of 1m is just 1 to 2 signal bars.tried it with other system still the same.until someone told me i need to get the setting right. pls how do i achieve a stronger signal bars and wider coverage.
Your laptop CANNOT transmit that far! It’s not the fault of the router… your laptop can only transmit a few hundred feet. If you want a link that is 10km, then you need a high powered router at both ends of the link… not a laptop.
If you want to cover a large area for laptops, then you will need to put a router every 300 feet (more or less, depending on terrain) in every direction. That is a LOT of routers… but again, that is because a laptop itself cannot transmit very far.
