Please tell me where can I get firmware version 1.4.0 or newer for PL7400?
I do not see any firmware available… How can you tell that there is an update ?
I have several devices based on the QCA7420 chip with different firmware versions of the PWR-LINE module.
The problem arises when the modules work with different firmware versions on the same network, even under ideal conditions.
Since it is not available to download, i do not see anything, you could contact Mikrotik support and ask them…
I updated mine using firmware from this post
plc-hw-platform: QCA7420
plc-sw-platform: MAC
plc-fw-version: 1.5.0(26-20200114-CS)
Simply uploaded firmware to flash and run firmware-update.

I followed these instructions and everything worked fine.
Download the file with the extension .nvm
Upload it to Files section on Winbox
On terminal write: interface pwr-line upgrade-firmware file=<nameOfFile.vnm> 0
After a few seconds the PLC chipset is upgraded.
correct command is:
interface pwr-line upgrade-firmware firmware-file=.nvm
I also loaded this firware into my pair of pwr-line devices, worked fine, no problems
