[Q] CHR license de-allocate/assign?

Hi Guys,

I wonder if someone with experience with the Cloud Hosted Router licenses could answer a few questions for me.

I am currently running several different virtualisation platforms including OpenSource XEN, XenServer and KVM physical machines. Now I am in the process of moving all of them to XenServer but currently this is not completely finished and will be a while yet before all can be migrated. Each DC has a different platform right now and requires a different CHR.

What I wanted to ask is, if I order a license now for one of the other platforms i.e. OpenSource Xen, can I de-allocate the license at a later late and assign it to the new VM which will be running on XenServer at a later late? or are they fixed i.e. once assigned to one router its there forever? if this is so, do mikrotik somehow allow you to move from one to another if say the HDD’s fail in the server or something if you mail them or is the license then useless?

I just don’t want to purchase a license now on a system which will eventually be moved to another virtualisation platform in the not to distant future as thats just not economical. Currently using Vyos in the other DC’s but ideally would like to replace all with CHR before the move is fully complete.

Kind Regards
