Qos & Adobe Flash

Hi

I recently activated QoS rules : mangle to mark traffic, simple Q to set the U/D limits, and QTree to set the traffic priorities, on a series of RB951-G located at my client’s various sites

The aim is to protect standard Web navigation and reduce priority for heavy traffic: downloads, streaming, …

One result so far which I have noticed is that sites with Flash content will load but without the Flash content

In some cases it is problematic e.g. stock and currency websites which constantly update the display of data

Is there a way I could detect Flash traffic in order to improve it’s level of priority ?

thanks
yann

Hi,
it depends on your server , for HTTP sites you could catch them with L7 and file extension in firewall(.flv .mp4 .3gp and etc..) , but for HTTPS sites (like YouTube) it’s better to use IP addresses.
