I have a question about how the ordering of the queues effects bandwidth sharing. What I’m trying to accomplish is to allow a higher priority user group to hog the upload bandwidth from a lower priority user group when the link starts to get congested. Let’s say I have the upload queue structure like this:
Parent queue (priority 8, no limits)
subqueue 1 (low priority users, limit at 10k and max limit at 30k, and priority of “8”)
subqueue 2 (high priority users, limit at 50k and max limit at 70k, and priority of 1)
Should this cause subqueue 1’s upload bandwidth to drop to 10k when subqueue 2’s traffic becomes heavy? In order to accomplish subqueue 1’s upload bandwidth to be limited down to 10k when subqueue 2’s bandwidth is heavy must the parent queue have limits?
What I’m seeing now is that subqueue 1’s bandwidth is not being limited down to 10k even when traffic is heavy.
Thanks!
