Good QOS is pretty important for business networks. And on good stable WAN connections this works very well. Unfortunately in regional Australia good stable WAN connections are in very short supply. Right now my 3G connection is fluctuating within a 20% range - so either I lose tight QOS when connection speeds are low (and QOS even more important) or I always limit my throughput to the slowest end of the speed range. I’d love a third option - anyone have bright ideas?
In those situations the best you can do with QoS is to give guarantied minimums to critical services and allow it to use any remaining bandwidth available.
