I mean, Really?.. 3.1Watts on the transmitter? 35dBm.. i think its pointless. I have links on ptp on 2.4GHz running with R52 at 52mw of power at 7 mi link with a 19dBi directional antenna and i have an stable -67 to -68 dBm. Whats the point to that extra juice? I think would be better a higher gain antenna than a higher power output..
This is only a possibility. You don’t have to use it only with full power. You can set tx-power to lower values.
It’s like having a sports car. You can drive it slower than max on the speedometer
But most novices amateurs will use it at blaring power and honk off the hole system.
Mikrotik will not solve it then.
We have a bunch of fools using Groove Metal with sectors. and the Noise floor has gone down to 67-68.
How can you use a link with such a noise floor. even signals of -60 cannot give a speed of 1 mbps

Using wireless equipment comes with the responsibility to use with country mode set, and at limits that are allowed in your area. Leaving at max power will not be legal in many areas, so everyone has to check regulations in their country.
Thats right normis. But vendors can/should help their customers doing this correctly. So please fix max power when using channel list and add the long wanted feature ATPC and implement a better channel selection when using scan list.
There is a lot we can do to keep the air clean and our equipment operational but we need the technical prerequisits to be successful doing this. And some vendors ignore this wish for a long time now.
Not everybody lives in europe. And as a vendor, MikroTik can’t control where their product will end up through various people. Why should somebody suffer european regulation limits if they are not in europe? Distributor can lock the limits if they are required to do so, and end users are required to follow the regulations. Everybody in this chain has their own responsibilities.
Even in countries without regulations users would benefit from these features as they help to reduce selfinterference. ATPC does reduce power without loss in performance. It just cuts down power where it is not needed. As conditions are weatherdependent static power settings are higher than needed now.
As much as I have observed Mikrotik modus operandi, it clearly indicates that it is targeting the amateurs. Their sales pattern, their production and development, all seems to be going for the volumes(masses) rather than improving on quality and pro aspects of their products. I have never talked about regulations and even with regulations 80% of these amateurs do not follow any regulations. They only go by what suits them.
I would heartily would have wanted to see a Metal Shield enclosure built for Mikrotik (SXT’s, 912’s) better POE controlled switches, more focused USER MANAGER, rather than this 3Watt BLARING HONKER.
I know that, you are an responsible and educated person who know that, but there are a lot of people who think “bigger its better” without having any clue of what a Wireless link do.
In countries like Mexico, even with the regulations the government its asleep. And doesn’t have qualified people.
So giving this kind of TX power its like giving them a Cannon to kill ants.
Fortunately most of the noobs use ubiquiti because their simple gui.
