Hello,
Network newbie here, so apologies in advance!
I did two things:
-
I did assign a static IP to the master port (port 1). Now I can access the Webfig through the Web with the static IP.
-
Connected 10 machines from port 2 to 12.
Question: What will be the slave’s IPs/GW/Subnets? All of them will be local? (192.168.88.2-192.168.88.12 and Static IP as GW). Can I assign the same static IP to each node connected to the port?
If you now have two IPs on ether1-master then you could in theory use either IP as the default gateway for devices plugged in to slave ports.
Not if you want more than one of them to work at a time
. What are you trying to do?
Thanks for helping me figuring this out.
Master and Slave Ports : I do have one static IP to port 1, and I use 10 port slaves (from 2 to 12) to connect to 10 machines. Later all these machines will act together so 1 static IP is fine here.
What I Want to do : First I need all these 10 machines to connect to the internet by bypassing their master through port 1. So I need a LAN for these 10 machines, to connect to the internet.
What I did so far : Assume that my internet provider gave me these: subnet: 1.1.1.1 gateway 2.2.2.2 and static IP is 3.3.3.3.
-
Assignment to port 1: In the ‘Quick start’ menu I added these values, and now I can access my router through browser/ssh with the address of 3.3.3.3.
-
Issues Are Here! – Assingments to port 2-12 : I started giving the address of 192.168.88.2-192.168.88.3 to port 2-12. I assigned 192.168.88.0 for the subnet of all the slave ports.
2.1 Question 1: Creating a route: For assigning the gateway to port 2-12, I need to create a new route for each slave in the IP> Route > New Route menu? If I assign a new route from 192.168.88.2 to 192.168.88.1 then this route is unrechable.
