Question about how to set up a small HOTSPOT Solution...!

Hi RouterOS-Professionals!

I have a simple question for you, but not easy to answer for me without some help.

I am responsible for the IT of a small Hotel. They give their guest the possibility to use a
free hotpsot. Now, because of a new law which forces you, to store traffic-data, we need
to set up a new solution.

I started with 2hotspot.com and set up a own Server. Everything worked well but they
will shut their servers down in May 1, so, again another solution must be found soon.

The only thing we need, is to redirect users to a splash site, where they can login
with a ticket-code (or username and password). Also a traffic-log for 6 months is
needed.

I read a lot of things about RouterOS and I’m sure, that this features are all inside the
RouterOS software solution (We have an own hotspot server on which I’ll install RouterOS).

My question is now, if I need more hardware, than we have already:
We have a router with an internal ADSL-modem (One device).
The question is now, if it is possible to access the internet on ethernet-card 1 from the router
via PPPOE connection through the internal modem and use the WLAN-mode of the router to
connect the guests to our hotspot solution and also our internal PC’s via WLAN?

Is it simply the function “PPPOE Client”? And is it maybe also possible to create separated
networks of the internal PC’s and the guests (with only one WLAN-AP in our router), so
that the guest can’t access the internat PC’s?

Thank you very much for the answers

Greetings from the University of Koblenz in Germany.

No idea?

I forgot to say, that I thought to have only one ethernet card
and have the internet pppoe conection and also the connection
to the wlan on the same “network card”, but I’m not sure, if
this will work.

Schön, dass du das beurteilen kannst.
Habe es auch so geschafft.

Manchmal muss jemand nur schnell beurteilen,
ob was geht, denn wenn nicht, brauch der
Fragende viel Zeit investieren, um es
auszuprobieren.

Aber danke für diese überaus hilfreiche und
sicher von einem sehr versierten BoardUser
