Hi, I just bought a RB450G and I have running the internet and the private network as well. Now my question is, How can I do to setup my wireless network? I have a linksys/cisco router that I want to connect if it possible. Or Do I need a special hardware to do this ? thank you for support.
Turn off the DHCP server on the Linksys, assign it a static IP address on your private network on the LAN side, and plug one of its LAN ports into your private network.
Let’s see if I did it right. I connected the LAN port from linksys router to the ether3 port in the RB450G. I configured interface, addresses in the RB450G. Configured wireless card from laptop to local IP’s. Now I have all working nice. But now my question is. If I setup like this I’m going to be able to control bandwidth and user accounts for clients ? or I need to do something different. thank for support again.
Yes, you can control all traffic going through the router now. The linksys is just acting as a layer 2 wireless bridge / switch.
