I cannot understand the negative (-) in wireless systems. Mikrotik writes noise floor , signal strenght, … in negative form.
Ok i know we can get negative, but it is all negative, even a close AP i get negative signal in dB.
I need someone to tell me if -40 is better signal than -80 ??
since im new with the wireless in mikrotik.
To simplify your question, -80 dBm is considered to be the niose floor (in certain cases -100 dBm). So you will always need to calibrate your wireless systems in order to get the higest value. Just like any ohter kind of unit, negative decibels are higer (better in your case) when they are near to 0. i.e. -40 is higher to -80 and so on
