I have been using the CRS109 for the last year with my basic cox plan but have since moved and upgraded to the ultimate plan which is 300/30 Mbps. It wasn’t an issue before using the CRS109 as a router considering I was on the base plan. Now that I am moving up to the ultimate plan i am reading that it won’t be able to route the speeds I will be paying for. Am I better off getting a new device all together? Or should I geta cheap Mikrotik ethernet only router and use the CRS as a switch/AP?
Rising the plan you are moving from area of cheap devices to more expensive devices. Actually, if it is for your home and you don’t need queues, you can try to simplify your configuration as much as possible and utilise the fasttrack to speed up the processing. May happen that you can reach such speed even with this device. In case of complex setup with no possibility to use fasttrack or with expectations of further growth, buy nothing less but Ccr1009.
Ok so I was unaware of fast track and someone else mentioned it as well. I added it to the top of my firewall chain and it jumped my speeds from mid 30 to 80 so it’s an improvement. I am going to test again on a default config with just fast track and see what I get. I think something in my firewall is causing a massive slow down. Plus I have been troubleshooting this and trying different settings so something must be off somewhere else too. Thanks for the help!
