Is it better to buy the mikrotik RouterBOARD itself or setup the mikrotik software on a normal computer with 2 lan cards , and what is the difference between both ?

Well, The mikrotik boards allow you to use Min-pci cards (which are good if you want to use a card with HIGH OUTPUT POWER TO GAIN DISTANCE!!, Most computer machines you can only use PCMCIA, with a pci adapter. Computers with Router os on them are much bigger/heavier than the routerbaords.. However Can have much more cpu/ram power than the routerbaords have, and do much more processing of MB’s Faster and more of them!! So depending on what you are trying to achive Is what you should choose for a board… I like routerboards for my wisp, and a computer to do all of my mail server/Dude server etc etc OR radius (But i use user-manager) … Anyways hope this helps you out some. -Jordan
