Queue and Mangle question

I’m playing with setting up a queue for my Tivo. I created a Mangle rule for the MAC address of the Tivo, and set it to mark the packets as “to_tivo”. That appears to be working - the Bytes and Packets are consistently counting up as I stream something on Netflix.

Now I go to set up a Simple Queue using those marked packets. Nothing ever comes up. The statistics all ready zero. I changed to trying it in the Queue Tree and again, no matter how I set it up the Bytes and Packets stay at 0.

I have some other entries in the Queue Tree from a tutorial or something I found on the forums or somewhere - it queues heavy upload/download and ‘other’ and prioritizes them. They all appear to be working.

If I have marked packets coming in, shouldn’t it be pretty straightforward to set up a Simple Queue to use them?

If you are marking packets based on the source MAC perhaps the downstream traffic is escaping. Try marking the connection instead.

It also might be easier to mark to/from a specific IP.

I will try again. At first I had the IP in there but it wasn’t working. Then I eventually changed it to the mac address, and later dragged it up above the other mangle rules and finally it started working.

This is going to sound dumb, but if I’m trying to capture traffic headed to 192.168.0.12, do I want that to be the source or the destination (as far as mikrotik is concerned)
