I am trying to set up three queues inside a queue tree where the parent is 100Mbps, Q1 is 100Mbps, Q2 is 50Mbps, Q3 is 25Mbps in both directions and I am seeing a strange issue. Firstly I assumed this might be because the children were exceeding the parent but, looking at other places on the site is seems this is acceptable.
What is happening is that one, or more but not all, of the client machines appear to be getting told it cannot transmit by the Mikrotik for 5 minutes. Retuning the queues to ensure the children don’t exceed the parent does not alleviate this behaviour.
The Mikrotik is configured as a transparent bridge and I don’t lose connectivity from all machines inside the same queue and have, at times, had two machines in different queues be “disconnected”. I also don’t lose connectivity to the Mikrotik itself and I can see, by pings that the connection is allowed automatically (i.e. with no intervention from myself) after pretty much exactly 5 minutes.
Hardware is an RB750GL with the latest firmware running RouterOS 6.4. I have tried 6.5 but was seeing something very similar but markedly worse with upload so downgraded to 6.4. I pretty much have a factory defaulted config with all firewall access rules removed. Mangle is using address lists to match and mark the packets (which is the only change since I tested on a PC with version 6.2).
Any ideas why I am seeing these disconnects at all please?
