We have 1 gateway router that handles all the traffic out of our network which is a 2ghz machine with a compact flash to ide adapter, it is running 2.9.35, we have a bandwidth max of 20meg total in+out, I have setup a simple queue to shape the total or ‘total-max-limit’ in MT to 20meg, I’m not sure which queue type to use for that kind of bandwidth though on this router, on other routers I’ve been using pfifo, or default-small, the packet count on this router on the other hand or for this queue will be around 4000 packets/sec total, I’m just not certain what queue type to use with this type of bandwidth passing through it or what would be the best type to use in this environment because I think my provider has a queue setup that when we reach or pass our 20meg it will drop every packet for a second just to stop the high amount of traffic but that is still not for certain yet, anyways I want to give this a try and see if it clears up some of the issues we have been having, so I need a queue that will not drop all that many packets and work pretty well at staying right up to 20meg.
any suggestions?
