Quick check of attached devices

I’m eventually going to deploy a RB750 as a router for a small wireless network watching IP cameras at a remote site using Starband satellite for a back haul. As you all probably know, raw throughput on the uplink side of consumer grade satellite internet is only 21kBps, so the link is pretty slow. The cameras only capture still images on demand, so it works. Any remote admin I do needs to be via command line if possible as the link is so slow.

Anyway, I need to be able to log in to the 750 every now and then and see what’s connected and if anything is down (all running off solar power). Doing a

/ip dhcp-server lease print

almost does what I need, except it shows devices that may be down, but their lease hasn’t expired yet.

Is there any way to force the list to “refresh” and drop those devices that still have a lease but have died?

Thanks.

Why not use /tool netwatch and have the 750 email you when something is down? The emails can be very small.
Saves you having to look into the network.

There is also /tool ip-scan which will scan an address range.

Thanks for the ip-scan suggestion. Works fine, but I would like to see the host name as you can in the dhcp lease list. I am lazy and don’t want to look up a named device’s IP - the host names make much more sense to me and it’s easy to see what’s working or who might be connected.

Will look into the netwatch function too.
