R11e-LTE - two devices, different results (config and band selection)

Hi,
could you give me an advice please? I have two similar devices with the same LTE miniPCI-e card:

  • RBwAPR-2nD&R11e-LTE


  • RB912R-2nD-LTm&R11e-LTE

These devices have the same R11e-LTE card but when I turn them on, RB912R-2nD automatically chooses band 3, 20Mhz bandwidth and it’s much more faster than RBwAPR on band 20, 10Mhz bandwidth. I’m testing this on the same place with the same SIM card. What could be a reason? How can I configure band selection? Is this caused by different antennas? Thank you…

Slow to fast are: Band20/8/3/1/7
Speed is determine by @Mhz width too. Best is 20Mhz.

Band3 is faster then B20/8 but have smaler propagation signal.
B20/8 is easier to obtain.

Please be sure that you use firmware v15 on both devices.

912 have not any antenna, ok the modem have got some like 0-1dB itself but we must use pigtail and external antenna.
wAPR have ~4dB internal antenna then should be easier grab the B3 - wAPR is connected with B3 but 912 with B20 ?

For now I say it’s normal.

No, wAPR is connected with B20 and 912R with B3. The difference is really big. I get 52/23Mbit on 912R, but 12/7Mbit on wAPR.

I made few test today and though nothing had changed, both devices are running fast on band 3. I don’t know what it was. I hope it will be ok now. Anyway, thank you SiB!

Remember that automatically is by signal .
You can always set only Band=3 by /interface lte set lte1 band=3; and that way only this band will work.
You can do other stuff and setup a cell-lock.
Please read documentation at lte to know what you can do with lte1 interface.
