R11e-LTE6 and 2.4G antenna?

I need to temporally run my LTE via R11e-LTE6. At the moment I have only mikrotik’s 2.4Ghz outdoor antennas and because my provider uses mostly B3 and B7 decided they could do good job. This is the monitor info:

numbers look good, but speed is max 50mbps while with the previous modem used until yesterday (ZTE cat12 outdoor 5G modem used for LTE only) I had no problem reaching 200mbps.

I’ve tried that same modem (the R11…) with mikrotik’s lte antenna (mAnt lte 5o) with same results — 50-60mbps max. Back then I thought it was limited by my plan, but now my plan cap is much higher. Unfortunately the antenna is 1200km away so can’t use it atm.

The cell tower is less than 100m away. direct visibility (modem mounted on the roof).

If I bother to get proper lte antenna, should I expect the speed to improve? This modem has been bit of disappointment.

I’m far from experienced as far as modems and radios are concerned but you’re comparing speed for a 5G modem with one of a 4G modem and expect them to be the same ?
They use different technologies.
How do you know that tower will allow to go full throttle on 4G ?

PS I would be extremely happy to see 50Mbps on my SXT LTE6. Crappy environment in the real middle of nowhere where it’s being used. I’m happy to see 10-25Mbps there.

I’ve explained it’s cat12 modem used for LTE only. There’s no 5G support in my neighbourhood.

Looks like the lte6 can only use carrier aggregation x2, most LTE cat 12 devices will either allows up to 4x CA or allow 2x2 mimo that improves the throughput a lot and would explain the huge difference in speed.
