r3.0 SR9 AP and RB133 2.9.x and SR9 doesnt work

I have been upgrading to 3.0 and on my nodes with SR9 cards in them, they clients don’t connect, and I have to downgrade back to 2.9.50 to get a connection.
does this mean all the clients must upgrade to 3.0 before I can upgrade the AP?

and will the client that move to 3.0 be able to connect to a 2.9.50 AP?

3.0 handles the SR9’s differently. Everything needs to be 3.0 or nothing will work.

Upgrade all your clients to 3.0 and then your AP and everyone should be happy.

On a side note 3.0 has much better performance with the SR9’s.

Are you serious? Wow, that would have really messed me up!

I’ve upgraded to 3.0 RC13 and have a bunch of 2.9.46 clients with SR9 that work fine… but your telling me the move to 3.0 will kill them… anyone else confirm this??

Thanks

I could be wrong but that is my experience.

Why wouldn’t you upgrade all your clients to 3.0 also?

Moving 250+ clients to a newly released 3.0 is probably not the smartest idea for me right now.

A little off topic… you’re running 250 SR9 clients? What is your hardware configuration?

About 160 are SR9.

Using RB133c for client.

Any problems with the SR9’s going deaf or quitting?

Power supply?

Yes, had a total of 17-20 deaf so far, but Ubiquity has alway’s stood behind their product. My CPE units are designed around a DC ground antenna and in fact I have never had a unit go bad that was ungrounded (Example… mounted on a chimney). It seems that the bad cards happen in batches. I am about to roll out my first XR9 tower in the next few weeks… I can’t wait to see how they perform. The key to SR9’s are filters at the AP, Good vertical seperation at the AP and use 5Mhz spacing.

What antenna are you using?

Superpass 11.5dBi120deg hpol for AP, Superpass 10dBi 60deg Hpol for client.

Greetings hytanium, best of luck with the xr9’s; we are having good luck with everything on 2.9.50.

We haven’t decided to take the time and switch everything to 3.0 yet, but if you could post your findings back here with your success (xr9 + 3.x) it would be greatly appreciated! Cheers

How do you like the superpass antenna’s? Expecially the 2.4ghz and 900mhz antenna’s… Do they perform well? I was interested in there product but was not sure if it was good quality.. Thank you - Jordan

I will do so.

I’ve been very happy with the antenna’s. They are very lightweight and affordable. I heard (From another WISP) that they had some moisture problems, but now they drill weeping holes in the radomes. They custom manufacture my cpe antenna’s for my radome/enclosures. I use only 900 and 5.8.

What are the distances you wre able to acheive with there equipment using the certian frequenceys? thanks -Jordan
