Hi, i am a complete beginner with very little RouterOS knowledge, but i am in a bit of a pickle.
I live out in the mountains, very far from technical help, also, to get internet access, i have to walk up the mountain to get close to my wifi tower. the tower sends an open wifi signal over most of the valey. but there where i live, it is just out of reach for my macbook to pick up.
So, i need to boost or extent the signal to reach to where i live so i dont have to walk up the mountain every time i need to send an email.
i have a spare RB411 and a R52 plus antena.
i have line of sight to the main wifi tower on the mountain from my house.
i would like to configure the RB411 so i can connect to it via the ethernet port.
i can access the RouterOS via winbox and the ethernet port, but that is as far as i get.
Do i need to install the R52 driver for it to work? where do i start to configure this board?
i know this forum is for people with RouterOS Knowledge, but i am desperate because this internet connection is my lifeline as it is my only communication to the outside world. i also need this internet connection to continue my work here.
No driver needed. It already has support built into Mikrotik. You just need to read the wiki on how to actually use the wireless functions once you plug it in.
