R52Hn txpower setting

I have two PC-Engines ALIX 3D3 boxes, with Microtik R52Hn cards. The cards are supposed to be 25dBm, but they only show as 20dBm in iwconfig. The only somewhat relevant thread I’ve found (http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/compex-wlm200n5-26dbm-esd-2t2r-compability-problem/44746/1) - which is for a different card - suggests that the other card actually runs at higher power than is displayed. Is this true for the R52Hn? If not, how do I modify txpower to 25dBm?

Dear ,

go to wireless list then go to TX power and select ( Card rates ) and set the power 25dB then hit on apply and ok , done power is 25db .

uhhhh…

Don’t do that!!!
Easy way to overheat/overdrive the amp and/or create noise.

You need to keep in mind that the output power is the total power out both connectors at a standard 20MHz wide signal.

25db - ~3db for Dual connector - ~3db for 40MHz wide channel = ~ 19db

It likely not precise but close.

25 dBm Total power output I.E. Using both Chain1 and Chain2

This means

Single chain is more like 22 dB

Dual chain should be 25 dB

The Card rating is also listed as the maximum output, or in other words, you will not get 25 dBm @ Higher modulation rates like MCS-7 or MCS-15 for example. Power output will go down as modulation rates increase with many cards.

If you set the card power to “default” it is usually the most powerful setting you can safely use.

You can then view the table under “Current TX Power” In the wireless tab.

*Note - To see the “Current TX Power” Tab, you must be select “Advanced mode” in the interface main window.

To see more in depth specifications on TX power levels VS modulation rates and sensitivty, you can look at the R52Hn brochure.

Not applicable. I am not using RouterOS.

tgrand/lazerusrm: Thanks for info. Was just wondering if it’s possible to squeeze a bit more range out of it.

RouterOS uses special custom driver which allows you to use it at it’s actual power. Linux doesn’t have such drivers.

i m facing a problem .

Last from 1 year i m using TP-Link 5110g Access Point in my main point , Recently i Buy Mikrotik Router Board RB433ah + R52Hn Card . i Set all Ap setting in Rb433ah . But Face a Signal Problem . i have external signal booster amplifier . i attached it with r52hn card . but i face low signal . :frowning: .. how to use external amplifier with r52hn ? or external amplifier is best for r52hn ? Please Guide me Mikrotik Support team .

Normis you also please tell me

So does this mean that the card doesn’t deliver its maximum power by default?

it does by default in MikroTik RouterOS. it doesn’t by default in other OS.

That is what I thought you were saying, just wanted to be certain.

Do any other MT mini PCI cards work like that?

Dear please check your antenna or amp cables n once check your clients signals with amp. n without amp. one more thing how many do you have and what kind of equipment are you using at client end ?
