r52n tx power low?

hi all

i obtained the r52n minipci module and was told it was similar to the r52h but when i plugged into the 433ah and booted it up (after upgrading to 4beta and updating key) its tx power in 5ghz mode is only 18dBm.

from what i know 18 = 65mW … this makes it nothing but a r52 with n capabilities.
according to this document http://www.routerboard.com/pdf/R52n.pdf the r52n is supposed to pump out 21dBm at 6mbit and 19dBm at 24mbit. so then why does it say 6=18 in the txpower box and the same for 54?



Is there something wrong or is this what the r52n really is?

if you use both chains at the same time you will be able to get 21dbm

hi, i have same problem ,max 18db ,enabled tx rx chains 0,1
what is wrong ? what i have to change to get full output power ?

Sorry for my mimo-noobness, but 21 is not 25… where are the 4 dBs missing?

it’s because you use two antennas at the same time. one card can’t work on full power on both chains (antennas) at the same time. this is normal for MIMO
