I have 2 R5H cards that are both new. I have tried them in a various RB411 bored, and they keep doing the same thing. Both cards after being powered on only for a little bit will reach vary high temps. So much so that it will burn to the touch. Now they both did this on my test bench witch is in a cool area and were not sealed in enclosures. the question i have is has any one else seen these kinda of issues?
Yes, this is known issue. Write to dealer or rma@mikrotik.com and explain your problems with this cards.
You are testing these with antennas connected right?
Don’t run a radio without a 50 ohm load connected. Otherwise they might burn up.
Tom
Yes I had both cards hooked up to panels. I even tried difrent panels.
From my experience, all the R5H cards that get very hot are already broken.
They have a very high failure rate from my experience.
These are the first i have had that have failed. We have used 4 or 5 else were and the have been working great. So it was a little interesting to see these fail so early on, but thanx to yalls answers and some other research i have done. it seems that i have been lucky with those cards lol.
