For that distance, R52 is fine. I’ve got a 6.6 mile shot, 10+km, with a 29dBi grid, tx power is around 13dBm, signal is -67dB, 54Mb connection.
I used an R52H for mine, rx sensitivity is about 2-3dB worse than the R52. For my next shot, 10 miles, I chose a R52 with 29dBi over the R52H.
If you just prefer the MMCX connector, I’m waiting for feedback on the R5H before I put some in the air.
I think he’s referring to the new R5H, not the R52H
I got that. I did mention it specifically in my post referring to a possible preference of the MMCX connector.
For that short of a shot, an R52 looks ideal to me.
I would recommend the R5H. It’ll cost almost half the price with very similar performance. Actually the new R5H is in my opinion the best wireless card ever produced by mt.

Agreed. Now that I have a few in service, I am impressed.
Too bad they don’t also make an R2H though. We still sell more radios running 2.4GHz than 5GHz.

For that short a link, a R5H will work well.
It’s also good for long distance links.
