Radius Server

Hello , I am new to mikrotik.
I managed to configure a mikrotik as an access point with hotspot and radius server.
I have level 4 licence and noticed that I can not have more than 10 users authenticated from the Radius of mikrotik at the same time.
So a friend of mine told me that is possible to have a seperate radius for example free radius.
In mikrotik user manager I noticed that I can not generate more than 999 users. If I configure an external radius server , could I have more stored users or still I have this limit threw the usermanager of the mikrotik routerboard?
It will be helpful to send me a link with any tutorial on how to implemet this scenario .
THANK YOU ALL AND MERRY CHRISTMAS.

If you use an external radius server, you will only be limited to 200 active hotspot sessions.

There are several scenarios to deploy a radius server, depending on the needs, google it. I can’t tell which scenario will be the best for you.
On Mikrotik you will need to add the radius IP and ports to /radius, remember to set service=hotspot. Also you will need to setup your hotspot server profile to use radius. Not much to do.

Thank you!
Yes 200 active users is a descent one since I want it for a middle size hotel use.
Thank you!

I wonder if you really need a radius server or usermanager at all.
You can create hotspot accounts in /ip hotspot user. I don’t see any limit for these.

One limitation would be lookup performance as the hotspot account list grows. Another limitation would be memory consumption as the list and number of users grows.
