Random 1-2Gbps MRTG spikes on interfaces

Hi there,

We’ve had an issue recently with random spikes on various ports ranging from 1 - 2Gbps at the same time. What does this ‘measure’ on the traffic charts really represent happening?

missed readings, rolled counters, etc. try using ::::2 at the end of the target and see if that helps. If not, look thru your mrtg.log and see how many polls missed that target. also, you can use maxbytes to filter out those large values if there is no other fix.
