Hello,
I searched the forum and didn’t find anything related, so I’m posting to see if anyone else has experienced this issue.
We had two CRS328-24P-4S+RM switches in storage for a while, intended for a new building project that was delayed a few times. One of the buildings was finally completed this summer, so I spent the weekend setting up the network cabinet and installing the WiFi access points (APs).
The switches came with RouterOS version 6.48.6, which we upgraded to 6.49.17 as recommended by the documentation. We then upgraded to version 7.15.3.
I installed one switch on Saturday, connected it to five APs for testing, and everything worked flawlessly overnight. However, on Sunday, when I connected three more APs, the switch began restarting randomly. At first, we thought a defective AP might be triggering the switch’s security features, but even after swapping out the APs, the issue persisted. After each restart, the switch displayed the message: “router was rebooted without proper shutdown by watchdog timer.”
We then suspected a defective switch, so we replaced it with the second one. It worked perfectly on version 6.48 with all the APs connected, but once we upgraded to 7.15.3, it started crashing in the same way as the first one.
We have a dozen of the same switch model running across the campus, so we checked the version they were using: 7.15.1. After downgrading the crashing switches to 7.15.1, they have been working perfectly since.
I’d like to know if this is a known issue, if we did something wrong, or if anyone is interested in more information for troubleshooting.
