I run an ISP and have used mangle to mark packets based on what address list a customer is in for speed. Then I have PCQ setup with Simple Queues to limit speed for customers by catching the packet mark and putting them into the appropriate queue, so each person can get their individual speed.
We are planning to offer speeds over 1Gb for FTTH customers so I was trying to setup up the queues for 1Gb,2Gb,5Gb,and 10Gb. When trying to set the rate I cannot set it for higher than 4294M, it doesn’t matter if I use bits/s or M. Going 1Mb higher causes the error:
“Error in Rate - number expected!”
Is this something that Mikrotik can fix?
Is it this way because trying to use PCQ with that much bandwidth going to make my routers work too hard?
Should I be using a different way to limit bandwidth for these higher tier customers? It would need to be for each customer based on the address list if so.
This is on 7.14.3, I have been holding off on 7.15 until a more stable release. I’m running 2216’s for ~600 customers so I should have the CPU power to handle it I would think.
This is a community forum and Mikrotik staff mostly reads the release topics.
Better write Mikrotik support, there you should get a response within some days. https://mikrotik.com/support
