i m using RB 1000 in my isp as a core router . Here i m using BGP routing and bandwidth is 44 MB. Within 4 days it hangs 5 times. last two days it’s works fine.

Make a Supout.rif and email it to support@mikrotik.com
doesnt the cpu utilization is a bit high for only 40mbits and 18000 pps routing?

some times it goes through 100%.

upgrade to 3.10 and see if your pain gets better or worse. 3.3 is a little old and buggy.
Hi,
you should try an update before contacting mt-support.
This will be the first they ask you to do.
I’ve running 3.7 for 81 days on a RB1000. BGP/OSPF with no problems.
CPU is <10% all the time.
Stefan
whats your avarage traffic? any filtering or shaping?
15-20Mbit, some filtering, conntrac on, no shaping
Stefan
I don’t believe the RB1000 is as powerful as Mikrotik would have you believe. We tried replacing some P4/2.8ghz Intel based dual ethernet boxes running ROS with the RB600 (only moving 30Mbps of traffic, no firewall, no conntrack) and they fell on their faces.
Granted, the RB1000 is more than the RB600, but I wouldn’t use the RB1000 for more than 40-50Mbps. For the price of a RB1000 you could buy a 1u P4/2.8ghz and purchase an IDE module with ROS loaded and spend less money and have 4x the power.
Our core router is a Core2Duo with dual GigE ports, firewalling, conn track, queues, etc. and we run 150Mbps incoming and 60Mbps outgoing traffic with CPU less than 40%. (over 40,000pps total).

thats sad
i~m just about to bought 2 rb1000 and use one of them as a transparent bridge trafic shaper , actualy we have a p4 dual core 2.8ghz moving 130mbits/ 260mbits agregate about 50k pps at 30% ~ 45% cpu usage with bridge firewall , simple queues and no conn track.
that’s completely untrue. I have seen RB1000 tested in different situations and it certainly handles more. You must have had something wrong in your setup.
The problem with going to an x86 board is getting it to load on the newer p35 chipsets. We are not having any success.
i have already send my supout.rif to support@mikrotik.com
May be they will help me to find out the problem..
10 days ago i’ve bought 3 RB1000. under this core router i have also installed two of them. WE have also running 12 more routers in x86 machines. But i think RB1000 is not better for huge bandwidth handle.
thnxs,

thanks for that info, and i really hope so because i just ordered 2 rb1000U for a 200mbits full duplex internet traffic without routing , just for act as a transparent bridge traffic shaper!
We have the same problem, only 30 mbit traffic with 700 pppoe clients and the cpu is at 90 %.

My experience with RB1K is limited, as I’ve only installed 2 so far, but on these two I’ve never seen CPU going higher than 20%, and that’s when stressing it with BW testers.
