RB 1100 :: Inaccessible

I’m using an RB1100 to inter-connect 4 LANs and to access internet. I had been using the router for last one month.

Very recently it has stooped working though the router is powering on and boots up.

I tried several times to log on to the router via console, winbox (MAC+IP), telnet and ssh but no response form the router.

When I connect a Laptop to port 1 to 10 & 13, the LED glows but not with 11 & 12. Bypass switch is set to off position.

I reset the router but no result.

Can anyone help me to solve it and guide me to log in/access the router?

Best Regards

Connect a serial cable at 115,200 baud and boot the router. What does the serial console say?

I have tried to connect with the serial cable but no response from router.

I also reset the router and tried to connect by all possible means to acces the router.

If it really is dead on the console then it is entirely dead since it doesn’t even get through the boot loader (which does put output on the console).

Router is powering on and boots up (i hear the beep). Ports led glow for all ports except 11, 12 when I connect Laptop to those ports.

But it’s not functioning and I cannot access to the router. So I’m not sure what’s going wrong with it.

Did any body face this problem with their RB? Please share.

Regards

If it is booting but you don’t see any serial output, then you need to debug your serial communications. That is important for troubleshooting.

The serial cable should be a Cisco rollover type or crossover cable. A straight through cable will not work.

Once you see serial output, it should become clear what the problem is. You might need to use netinstall to reinstall the RouterOS.

Good luck,

Tom
