RB 112 + RB 532B claiming licence has expired

Hi all,

I have a intesting problem, I have a few routerboards who now say when I log into winbox that the licence will expire in 20 hours,

These boards have been in service almost a year, have not been touched or updated, In fact they do not even have access to the internet.

I am now in the suitation that they are going to die in 20 Hours, I have tried to Update licences but they are telling me that I have no credit.

I have e-mailed tech support twice but with no answer yet, And I really dont want to climb towers to update or reflash the boxes.

I have always found Microtik to be reliable other that Atheors Cm9 cards being corrupted if the voltage goes low.

Having said this I still have a number of StarOs boxes which I have not migrated yet and they have not been touched in 3 years.

I am now worried about the rest of my Routeros boxes, as I really dont want to have to go around and reflash or update over 100 Boxes.

Does anyone else have this problem is there a soution to this.
I know I could buy another licence and download new software to corret this problem now, But when I bought the boards I know I bought a licence as well, I did see something about 10 euros a licence, But then again why should I need to pay for a issue that I did not cause.

I presume the guys on mikrotik support are busy, As I have sent 2 urgent e-mails to them and no reply other than the generic reply check the fourms and boards for a solution.

Don’t get me wrong the Mikrotik kit performs well, and I was one of the few in Ireland to start using it almost 3 years ago, But I suppose now that my back is to the wall and I have little more that 20 hours left before my links start dying, I was hoping for support.

Then again they are cheep boxes, and for that reason I run siemens microwave links for important links, it seems with the poor support responce, that this was one of my better decisions.

I’d a similar problem and I solve this issue in this setps:
1- create an account on mikrotik
2- login in my account
3- click on request key and put you software-ID (get from system->License)
4- select you license-key and copy it.
5- click on winbox->system->license and click on “paste key”
With this step I solve al similar license problem with my rb133c… I’m very happy if this can help you…

Thank you Francesco,

I managed to get this to work, although finally figured out the tiny print is the key information,

The update system key did not work from the router, I am in the process in updating all boxes.

It worrys me a bit that all the boxes seem to have developed a sudden loss of their software key, make me wonder the fact that they have not talked to the “mother” ship may have caused this problem.

I am a little dissapointed with the support I recived, For boxes telling me that they were going to die in 20 hours was not great, Now it seems that i have to run around to all the non net connected boxes and update them.
It was ok paying for the boards, and the software, but now I have to sit in my car and audit all installed boxes to see if the nag screen is on them, or do i just let my customers phone me when they do die, either way its a waste of my time and money.
I would like mikrotik who I have though highly of until this happened to explain why there boxes are loosing licence.

And I though I was upgrading from staros at least I am sure tonight that they will be on the air tomorrow morning.

I responded to your email this morning, your mail came yesterday evening. No reason for complaints here. Did my suggestion help you?
