RB 112 upgrade problem

Hi,

I wanted to upgrade my RB 112 from v.3.30 to v.5.20, but could not upload new package file (routeros-mipsle-5.21.npk).
When I copy/paste it to Files List directory, router disconnects immediately. msg:“Router has been disconnected”
It does the same when I try to Make Supout Rif.

could you help me or suggest please, what could be the problem?

Try to connect via ip, not mac

thank you. it worked when I connect with IP, I could upload file but no changes. OS version is the same. I also gave the command from New Terminal /system router upgrade. but when I reboot there is the file in the Files List no changes in working OS package.. it is still the same v 3.30.

could you tell me why it does not work? I do something wrong?

Upgrading over such a large range of versions is problematic. Plus, there was a change from 7- to 8-char license keys. This is the recommended sequence:

  • Upgrade to 3.30
  • In Winbox, go to “System > License” and click on “Update License Key”. (The PC running Winbox must be connected to the Internet.)
  • Upgrade the board firmware: / system routerboard upgrade
  • Upgrade to 4.1, upgrade board firmware
  • Upgrade to 4.17, upgrade board firmware
  • Upgrade to 5.1, upgrade board firmware
  • Upgrade to 5.20, upgrade board firmware

Also, your license might not extend to v5.x:

  • / sys license print → the “upgradeable-to” field may not extend to v5.x
