We’re seeing a reoccurring problem with the 4011 units we’ve deployed in the field. After some time the lock up, respond to ping but are UN-reachable. They route traffic bu the DHCP server stops working. We’ve seen this with every unit we’ve deployed and firmware updates aren’t resolving the problem. this is especially perplexing as the setting we use are the same for 2011, 3011 and hex PoE units and the problem only seems to exist in 4011 units. we’ve tried powering with DC and POE and the problem continues. Its unrelated to temperature or operating time AFAIK.
We are running ospf, and virtual bridge interfaces if that makes a difference.
We’ve run into this with a few clients that run the 4011 and have used the following as a workaround while we work on a ticket with MikroTik. It seems to be more stable in the few we have tested.
Set the CPU frequency to 1200mhz
system routerboard settings set cpu-frequency=1200
we’ll try that. And we’ll also script in a reboot cycle. many of the routers are in difficult to access locations. So a hard reboot by hand is not acceptable! Hopefully MT has a solution soon the 4011 line is so promising with 10gb support
I can verify that this does not resolve the issue in our case. We’ve taken to setting reboots. I appears that changing OSPF settings decreases the time between lockups but I can’t quantify that yet.
