I had a RB433 which is running over RouterOS 4.11. I downloaded from Mikrotik website the “combined package” of RouterOS 4.16.
I followed the instruction of upgrading the RB from http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Upgrading_RouterOS; where I upgraded the device using Winbox. When I rebooted the RB it did not boot up, it only beep once and then nothing changes. I cannot access neither through Winbox nor Console.
I did try to use the button existing on the board by pressing it while booting up the board but in vain.
Anybody can help me to access the board again. Thanks!
Actually I could connect to the RB through console (I was using the wrong null modem cable).
When I setup the hyperterminal and boot up the RB I get the following:
RouterBOOT booter 2.28
RouterBoard 433AH
CPU frequency: 680 MHz
Memory size: 128 MB
Press any key within 2 seconds to enter setup..
loading kernel from nand… OK
setting up elf image… OK
jumping to kernel code
System halted.
When “Press any key within 2 seconds to enter setup..” prompt and even I press any key within the 2 seconds I am not able to enter the setup in order to configure the Bootloader to boot from the ethernet.
Using the example for netinstall , set the computer you are using for console to (server)192.168.1.X assign an ip address client (433) to 192.168.1.x in net booting tab
Using hyperterminal press within 2 sec any key, select o and e then X to reboot, hyperterminal console will say waiting for ethernet connection …, netinstall will display nestreme and mac address of your 433, browse to location of 4.16 packages select and click on nesteme to install, wait till installation completes reboot but this time change boot sequence back o then n and X , done
