RB 433 not coming up in winbox

Hi Everyone,

I got a microtik router for my cafe, set it up and everything was working well. Next day i came in and its not working again.
Heard one of my staffs changed the netwoork cables. Now, the router will not come up in winbox. I have tried placing a screwdriver on the jumper hole as suggested in this forum, but now, the router is not even showing up on the wireless connection available.

I don’t know of any other way to connect to the router and i tried using the PoE lan port, but its not even coming up there. Do i need to set a specific IP address for that. Please i would really appreciate it if i got some form of assistance.

Cheers lot

You do not need an ip to access your router via winbox. The connection is possible at mac level.
Confirm that the lan cable you’re trying to use works - use a cable tester if you have one otherwise test using two other network devices. If the LEDs around the ports at either end of the cable are properly lit, then it’s likely the cable is fine.
Using winbox, browse for available devices (the ‘…’ beside the ‘connect to’ address bar). Click a couple of times and see if anything shows.
If nothing, then you’ll need to get a serial cable for console access to see what transpires while your router is booting.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, i finally got to the interface through your suggestion, You are the best.
I used the second network interface and the winbox located the router.

Now i have a new problem, how do i setup the router to work as a Wireless Access Point and if possible define a hotspot.
It had all the settings when i bought it initially, but now all the interface is showing red.

How do i set it up again, If its not a bother, please can you tell me how or show me a link i
can follow. I am an intermeddiate IT person and things should not be too difficult.

Cheers
And many thanks again.
