I need to mount RB433AH with 3 miniPCI card at building and I need to use 80m of FTP cable CAT5E (0,51).
what power supply best choice: 24 or 48 volt? and if i plug 48 volt POE i damage RB?
24 volts.
We use 18V power supplies from laptops, one RB with more load is stable, one RB with less load is not stable and we wonder what’s happening…
Switching power supplies often have a minimum load requirement. You probably are under that minimum load when it is not stable. It is better to use 18POW or 24HPOW which are designed to work with much smaller minimum loads than your laptop supply.
Tom
48 volt (POE) will damage RB433AH, or may works? anybody tested?
If MT gives me one RB433AH for free i will test it ![]()
RouterBoards have min and max voltage. Use power supplies within those ranges.
p.s. we now put a 24V supply from a printer
but the problem was in imesh layer 7 rule
RB433 have over-voltage protection - it will not start at all.
edit:
if you apply 48V to a RB433 it will not start at all, but it will not burn - because of over-voltage protection
Oh Janis means in context of this topic - yes. And http://routerboard.com/pdf/rb433ah.pdf the RB433AH can handle up to 28V DC.
