RB 433AH Auto Reboot

Greetings all.

We acquired two RB 433AH and each of them w/ two XR2. This was ordered around a month and a half ago and we laid them aside on the desk all of this time. However, finally last Friday we had time to hang one of them with two sectors.

After accessing to the OS with winbox and while I was doing the initial configuration part, suddenly the RB rebooted by itself two or three times in a short period of time…

Than after the last auto reboot occurred, we tried to access the OS many times but at the end we didn’t had any success.

Any ideas ?

Thanks.

connect a serial port and see if anything is output when it happens. also go into the watchdog settings and disable watchdog. it is possible that there is a kernel panic, and watchdog reboots to recover. if this is the case, you should reinstall and reset the router, to make sure there are no corrupted files or bad config.

Thank you normis, I will try then …

what happened with this?

I have two of these (433ah w/ XR5) and they reboot as soon as I connect to them. They are in alignment mode and beeping, so I know they are working until I connect. When winbox tries to connect (never established) the unit reboots.

You might not be giving them enough power. How long are the cables and what POE supplies are you using?

the pacwireless 24i injectors with about 10ft of cable. it’s just in testing mode on the roof to do alignment. im starting to think its either a bad image or corrupted files (or corrupt user saved session). its a brand new unit, i just turned on alignment mode and thats it. log says kernel panic reboot - is there some way to know why or should i just netinstall it and hope that fixes it ?

start by just doing a reset (using the reset jumper on boot)
