RB 433AH Micro SD Card - When will we be able to use this?

I have purchased several 433AH boards for the ability to use the Micro SD card to store data.

When will this be available??

I am also wondering if micro-sd cards can be used for storage on RouterOS. Is it possible to access the files stored on the card through a http or ftp connection to the Routerboard? Can RouterOS be a webserver or is there any plans in the future for it? Our WISP is wanting to be able to download files, such as antivirus software, from our Routerboards while we are at our customers homes. Please let me know if something like this is possible or if it will be in the future. We like to help people clean up their computers when we install their internet, and something like this could greatly increase the ease of which we could do this.

Thanks,

Jason

RouterOS is not a web server, and probably never will be (at least I hope this).
If you are operating a WISP, you should be able to find some space on a web server (a real web server) where you can host the downloads for the techies. Or use a cheap USB stick to carry your tools with you.

I’m a strong believer in the “appliance” thought:
Every device has it’s purpose, and it’s best to leave it at that.

Just my two cents…

As it turns out, a web server and ftp server are already built into RouterOS. If you type in the ip address of the Routerboard, it will bring up a web interface for your device. Not only that, but you can also download the Winbox software from it! Also, you can ftp into router OS and transfer files without any problem. So, there is no doubt RouterOS can perform these functions. The problem is getting the ftp to use the Micro-SD card to store data. I figure if you can install RouterOS onto the card and boot from it, then it will store files on the card by default. So, is it possible to boot from a microSD card on the 433AH Routerboard?

Since ftp and http are obviously running, it’s just a matter of being able to configure them which we have been unable to figure out how to do.

there is a lot more to a webserver, than just to displaying a html page. RouterOS doesn’t support databases, PHP and a whole lot of other things

hairfarmer,
You can use Micro SD card together with /store in the latest version.

Oh really?? So, how do you go about using the store command with a micro-SD card?

Add Micro SD car.
Check /store print.

If there is no web-proxy menu there.
Add ‘store add type=web-proxy disk=micro-sd’.

MY 433AH doesn’t seem to recognise the microSD or is there something i have to do before using it?
Done disk format but status remains invalid.
Any suggestion?

I’m running ROS 3.16 latest firmware, 4Gb SanDisk MicroSD.
Thanks

ok for webproxy , but will the ftp mount/type (and maybe xen img storage) be available in next (3.17?) version?

thanx,
LePiaf

the micro-sd card keepn on dissapearing on me… :imp:
sometimes invalid

try another one. we haven’t seen this. maybe bad card, or connector? any humidity, or vibration?

problem dissapeared when the unit is rebooted, but not for long (few days).

tried 1 gb card, up time 2days with no errors, so shall i be suspecting a defect micro-sd?

will keep monitoring…

Hello!, its possible install package dude-3.1-mipsbe.npk into micro-sd card? (RB433AH). Not install to internal flash?

Thanks!!!

Novak

jnovak, you install Dude to the system disk, but all the files and the information are kept on secondary disk (MicroSD).

/store

is used to set Dude to be used on MicroSD card.

/store add disk=MicroSD type=dude activate=yes

I have a RB433AH with ROS 4.9, I have tried formatting several SDcards in the device from 8gb 4gb 16gb etc

Whenever i attempt to format a card the board hangs on formatting, i have even tried leaving it for several hours incase it was doing a low-level format

once the format starts the ROS stop being able to write out, package lists show empty and the available storage is reported as 4964 GB or other random numbers

Is there a fix for this issue? Can the card be formatted in another linux system? What FS is used on the cards?

bearkiter, What kind of SD card do you use?

I just got the rb 433uah

and i am trying to get the microsd card to work and it wont,

It just does not show up. I go to system/stores and it only shows my flash drive and the onboard memory.
Do i have to enable the microsd card slot or something?

Apparently only some micro-SD cards will work.

All the ones i got off Ebay work fine in everything else (iPhone, several cameras etc) but not on the MT board.

I fannied about with it for ages, and gave up - stuck a USB hard disk on it instead.

haha.

Oh i see.

that sucks, so how do u know before u buy a SD?

could it have anything to do wiht ros v5?
