We have a RB500 running Router OS 2.9. We are connected to a Wifi Backbone (49.9km jump, -77/-79 signal and an average CCQ of 98%) using a 28db dish antenna on both sides with xr5 cards. We upgraded the Router OS to 3.2 as it was mentioned that this is more stable. We also did a firmware upgrade. After the upgrade I noticed that the board showed RB 532A in Winbox. After the upgrade we rebooted and all worked fine. This was about 21:00. The next morning we could nog log in to the board via winbox using our WiFi link. We then tried throught the ethernet / lan cable and still could not. We the powered down the board, left it off for about 2 min and powered up again. All seemed fine again. This continued until the following morning and we had the same scenario. Again powered down the board and all worked fine again until about 16:00 that afternoon. We then decided to down grade the board back to 2.9. We did this and reloaded the backup we made before we did the upgrade (when the board was stable). It seemed fine until again the following morning. Now we are at a loss?
We have 2 5.8 90 degree 17 db sectors running on 100 watt cards and a 2.4 27db omni on a 100 watt card. All worked fine, but throughput was slow, that’s the reason for the constant tweaking. After all was said and done we discovered that the other networks running of the backbone is using all the bandwidth and we being the last high site we recieve the poorest service. We are sorting out load balancing and routing ip tables so each network utilises it’s own bandwidth. This should solve our problems except the board locking up?
Any help please
PS. Totally new to the game and trying our best to make a new venture work.
