RB 750 Activity LED not showing activity

I have an RB750 which has a working activity LED (it lights up on power up) but it doesn’t show activity. Is there any setting that could be set which is turning it off?

I accidentally reverse polaritied the unit with a little 7 volt power supply which I thought belonged to the RB750. Does anyone know if the RB750 has reverse polarity protection?

Thanks!
Greg

The leds won’t show activity on RB 750/750G. This is normal. Don’t know if MT team is possible to make them blink on traffic by future software upgrade but… on latest MUM in Poland someone mentioned about this and Janis said that they will make them blink (at least on RB 250 models - so maybe on 750 too).

About wrong polarity protection… I think this board has it. Does it work when you plug it correctly now?

Edit: And btw… 7 volts are not enough for RB 750. You can damage it by supplying such low voltage. Use 10-28V.

Thanks so much! I’m glad to know the activity LED shouldn’t be blinking, but what’s funny is I thought I had seen it blink on another RB750. I guess I’m wrong.

I didn’t mean to power the unit with a 7 volt power supply (and reverse polarity at that!) what happened was someone handed me what I thought was the right power supply and when I plugged it in and it didn’t work I checked it and saw my mistake.

LEDs do blink, but only two times upon finishing bootup process. This emulates visually (yes, RB 750/G doesn’t have buzzer) the sound of beep-beep

I have RB750G for some time and LEDs are blinking on activity like on normal switch.

But now I’ve bought cheaper RB750 and LEDs are not blinking (still lighting) - I am not happy with that - there is really no way to change this? I think I should rather buy RB750G - price is double and power comsumption higher, but it has Gbps, faster CPU, all 5 ports are switched and are blinking.

On both of them I have v. 4.13

As it was said above, RB750 don’t have blinking LEDs.

Is it possible to do a software upgrade (in the future) to make RB750s leds blink on network activity or is it hardware related? If it’s the first one - I think there will be many users who will be happier with this feature

I was worried my rb750up might be broken. I had to replace my rb750g so that i can have usb support.
