I have RouterBoard 750G. Default configuration is that the router acquires IP by DHCP. But I would like to specify my own static address for my internet provider. Also, that provider has MAC address protection. How would i clone my prieviuos router MAC address and set static IP address ?
You can edit the Ethernet interface either via the CLI or from Winbox. Just delete what MAC is there and fill in whatever one that you want to. If you are connected to that interface when you edit it, you will loose the connection for a while because the ARP tables will no longer match on your computer.
The only way to “specify” a static address is to contact your provider and see if they are willing to sticky an IP for you assuming that they do DHCP, or if they are willing to give you a routed subnet. If it is residential service I generally wouldn’t expect them to be willing to do either.
I’m using WinBox to make changes. I’m trying to change MAC addres at Interfaces->Interface->Ether1. But it doesn’t allow me to do it. I just can’t edit information. I have tried to disable that interface, but it still won’t let me to change mac address. (I attached screenshot.)
ISP gave me statip IP, gateway, DNS, subnet mask. Where do I put this information. IP addresses ? It only shows IP, network, broadcast…
